Doubao in English: ByteDance's China chatbot is not the Seed API

Doubao is ByteDance’s consumer chatbot in China. English-language searchers usually want one of three things: the China app in English, an international cousin, or the Seed models on an API. Those are not one download.

We did not install Doubao, so this page will not claim an English UI quality score, a phone-number rule, or a price. A sideloaded APK is the wrong shortcut, same as with Qwen.

The part we can price

OpenRouter lists ByteDance Seed ids under bytedance-seed, plus a small bytedance set. They are API models. They do not prove the consumer app is available in your store.

A public preference row that is not the app

The LMArena snapshot includes dola-seed-2.0-pro from ByteDance in the overall category. Dola is the name on that row. We are not going to declare it identical to the Doubao phone app. The chart shows the row’s rating next to models people actually compare. Read the rank and the vote count before you treat it as a review of the app you can download.

If you need a chatbot in English today and you do not want to debug a China app store, use a product whose listing you can open, or call a Seed id through a host you can name. The provider hub is the short version.

Questions

Can I use Doubao in English outside China?

We did not install the app or complete a store-region check. Do not trust a repackaged APK. The Seed API ids are the part we can price.

Is Dola the same as Doubao?

Treat similarly named international apps as a separate listing. We did not verify a feature-for-feature match.
